The Insider’s Guide: A Perfect Day in Tiburon

By Georgina Patterson

Sunny waterfront with houses and trees along the shoreline. Clear blue sky, sparkling water, and a serene atmosphere.

There is a specific kind of magic that

happens the moment you leave the San Francisco city limits and head toward the

Tiburon peninsula. Whether you are a long-time resident or a first-time visitor, Tiburon

has a way of slowing down the clock.

As someone who calls Marin County home, I’m often asked where I take friends when they visit from out of town. My answer is almost always a day trip to Tiburon. It’s not just about the real estate—though the hillside architecture is stunning—it’s about the lifestyle that comes with it.

The Most Scenic Commute in the World

While you can always drive across the Golden Gate, the absolute best way to experience the scale of the Bay is by water. I always recommend taking the ferry from San Francisco. It’s a breezy 30-minute ride that offers a perspective you just can't get from the road.

Pro Tip: Keep your camera ready. You’ll get a gorgeous, unobstructed view of the Golden Gate Bridge from the water as you cross into Marin County waters.

A Waterfront Wander

Once the ferry docks, the pace shifts immediately. Downtown Tiburon is designed for walking. I love taking friends along the water’s edge—the view of the San Francisco skyline from this side of the Bay is, in my opinion, the best in the region. It’s the perfect spot to admire the boats and get a feel for the quiet, refined energy of the community.

Lunch with a View

No visit is complete without a stop by the water. Sam’s Anchor Cafe is a popular restaurant for a reason—sitting out on the deck, you’re right on the water with a front-row seat to the Corinthian Yacht Club.

For those craving a bit of French flair, Petite Left Bank is another must-visit for a glass of wine and one of my favorite dishes: Moule Frites. It is the kind of place where even a simple afternoon feels memorable, surrounded by the masts of the yacht club and the sparkling Bay.

Why We Call It Home

What makes Tiburon compelling for buyers isn't just the proximity to the city; it’s the fact that this beauty is part of your daily "chore" list. Imagine the light on the water being the backdrop for your morning coffee or your evening walk.

Whether you are looking for a primary residence that feels like a getaway or a second home with long-term appeal, Tiburon remains one of the most well-positioned communities in Marin.
